I love a good walk. Generally I like wild hikes that involve clambering over rocks and tree routes, squishing through puddles and getting back to my car covered in mud with suitably sore legs.
Nowadays Iโm looking for gentler walks on paved paths that donโt have many inclines. Whilst itโs very possible to get out the wrap or baby carrier, I love the ease of the pram. With the storage at the bottom, and not having to lug a 19lb baby on my hips, it’s so ideal!
So far, these are the pushchair-friendly walks that we have found to be the nicest for taking Pebble out and about around Swansea! Iโll do a Part 2 if I gather enough walks later on!

1. The Wales Coast Path from Swansea Marina to the Mumbles
Distance: 5.8 miles total
Best time of year? All seasons! But especially spring and summer. Itโs so pretty!
That is a looonnng walk and I like to do sections of it rather than the whole thing in one! There are multiple car parks along the main road so itโs an easy choice if youโre looking for a good place to stretch the legs! I also find that there are plenty of benches and trees to sit under if Pebble needs feeding or changing! Plus there are pubs and restaurants along the way if you fancy a coffee!
My favourite section is between Clyne Gardens and the Mumbles. Itโs tree-lined, the sea is right below the wall when the tide is in, and you have a lush view of Mumbles hill with the house climbing up the sides of it, and the pier in the distance. Blackpill Point is also really nice, and there is a splashpark there in the summer months for your little ones to enjoy! The sand on the beach is so beautifully soft and golden. I just love the Welsh coastline, and itโs great that I can still walk bits of it with a pushchair!
2. Clyne Gardens
Distance: Just over a mile-long loop
Best time of year? Spring when the flowers come out, itโs lovely!
This is a beautiful place to bring a child! The gardens are stunning, with tropical plants and native flowers to admire, and paths of varying states to wander around. The main route is nice, and there is a paved loop that is easy to follow. Along the way, take in the scenic bridges, tree avenues and peaceful woodlands.
There is also the Touring Tearoom next to some public toilets and picnic benches! It’s the perfect place to stop for coffee and a homemade cake, and feed and change your child too!
We love going to Clyne Gardens, and then also crossing the road to walk some of the coast path towards the Mumbles or Swansea!
3. Fendrod Lake
Distance: 1 mile loop
Best time of year? Autumn when the leaves turn golden and red. Summer is also a lovely time, when everything is lush and green!
This is so close to where I live that itโs literally the perfect place to go for a stroll, or a few high-powered loops! The lake is in the centre of the industrial estate, and is surrounded by woodland and paths and benches to sit and take in the pretty views for a bit. When the sun is out and sparkling on the water, with the willows dipping their branches in and making ripples, itโs such a pleasant place, and youโd never guess that all around is the busy industrial estate!
Thereโs also a little exercise part, with various equipment, a nice flat paved path all the way around to walk, cycle or push a pram down, and entire families of swans and geese to watch too!
When Iโm just in the mood to get out of the house, this is where I like to go, especially when the sun is shining! I pop round Tim Hortons for a coffee and then follow the footpaths round to the lake.

4. Swansea Canal Route
Distance: This can be as long or as short as you like! Iโm unsure of the length of the walk one way, some sources say between 3-4 miles.
Best time of year? Literally any, and itโs even nice in the rain because itโs quite sheltered under the trees, but autumn is particularly nice!
Stretching between Pontardawe and Clydach, is a paved cycle and walking path. Pretty woodland arches over the canal, and the River Tawe runs the other side of it. Itโs an easy walk, on the flat, and looks stunning in autumn when the trees turn red and golden, and in the spring and summer when the flowers are in full bloom!
There are a few scant benches dotted along the path, but itโs easier to rest up at Coed Gwilym Park in Clydach and have a coffee too! After walking back to Pontardawe, the town has some lovely coffee shops and cafes to try, and cute local shops to have a nose at too! All of it is pram or pushchair-friendly, which makes for great walks with a baby or young children near Swansea!
5. Swansea Marina Loop
Distance: Just under 2 miles
Best time of year: Anytime, but it makes a nice winter walk when the beach is too windy!
The Marina is a fascinating place, and we go there not just to have a nice walk! If you’re interested in boats, this is the place to come and watch some! I find a strange, quiet kind of joy in reading the names of boats as we pass by them. It’s also a great people-watching location, as there are many, many restaurants and cafes with outdoor seating.
Park in East Burrows car park and make your way towards the boats! Visit the Coast Cafe, grab a coffee, and start your loop around one of our favourite pushchair-friendly walks in Swansea!
6. Cycle Route 43
Distance: However far you choose, as this technically goes all the way from Swansea to Builth Wells!
Best time of year: Autumn for the changing leaves, and summer, because a lot of it is in woodland so it make for a cool, shady escape!
The cycle route is one of my favourite walks with Pebble and her pram. Guaranteed to be nicely paved, and mostly flat, it makes for a really pleasant walking experience! We’ve walked different bits of it in sections… driven the car to various points, parked and started walking. As a lot of it (or the parts we have explored anyway!) are in wooded areas, it’s nice and shady for Pebble. There are benches scattered along the way which make for nice snack and water stops too!
