Hi there! We are Becky, Ben and Pebble!
I’m Becky, the voice behind the blog, a life-long reader and an adult-long travel enthusiast who hasn’t been many places yet but has big travel dreams! As an extroverted-introvert, reading is my biggest hobby. I spent my childhood sitting in trees and on hillsides reading books, and that hasn’t changed much with age.
For five years I lived in China, working as an ESL teacher, and absolutely loved it until the pandemic came along and spoiled all the fun. I loved my job, and was pretty good at it too, and saying goodbye to those children was one of the hardest things. Now I am back in Wales and my life looks incredibly different. After living a bit of high life in China, I suffered from reverse culture shock, and struggled to settle for a while. Now I am working in retail (because I can’t fathom a stressful job and a baby anymore!), engaged (he’s so lucky) to a rather handsome red-haired fellow named Ben, and we have a beautiful baby girl nicknamed Pebble!
Ben, meanwhile, works in retail by day, and composes music by night! He gets dragged along on all the trips I plan, and always enjoys them! Reading is something he enjoys too, though his reading list looks a little different to mine – whilst I like my reading to span the globe, he enjoys his more in fantasy worlds.
Pebble is our adorable one-year-old daughter, who also loves her books (yes!!), dragons, lions and bunnies (yes, our girl is cool), doesn’t like grass under her feet, and is convinced that our cat roars like a lion. She loves her noms, going out and about in the pram and waving at absolutely every person and dog that we pass, and has the best giggle in the world.
Our mission:
My love of reading has manifested into several blogs and Instagram pages over the years, and now I want to mash it together with my love of actual travelling and exploring. Reading widely gives new insights and allows for better understandings of different cultures and people, and my favourite thing to do is to curl up under a blanket with a book that is set somewhere far-flung! Thus this blog will be an amalgamation of the two things I love to do — read and travel.
Together, Ben and I want to share our explorations around Wales and beyond, determined to take our little girl with us. This website will grow with Pebble, and so the beginnings of it will focus on our mini adventures whilst I was pregnant with her. In the future we, and our daughter, can look back on this, and smile at the many memories we’ll have created.
We want her to experience the world as we’ve always dreamed, and do not believe in that famous saying, “once you have kids you won’t be able to go anywhere”! With the right research, a bit of extra planning, and probably a lot of mishaps along the way (!), we fully believe that we can see the world, with the added benefit of getting to share experiences with our daughter.
